The Asylum Seeker Advocacy Project (asap) believes that Asylum seekers can make great change by standing together. We provide our membership of Asylum seekers with legal and community support. And we work with our members - more than 300,000 Asylum seekers - to build a more welcoming united states. Asap members come from more than 175 countries and live in every u.s. state and territory. And we work with our members to build a more welcoming united states. We work alongside our members - thousands of Asylum seekers - to make this vision a reality.

Program areas at Asylum Seeker Advocacy Project

Connecting and supporting Asylum seekers: asap harnesses the power of technology to build the largest community of Asylum seekers in u.s. history. During this fiscal year, asap grew to reach over 500,000 Asylum seekers from 175 countries. We provided legal and community support to Asylum seekers navigating the complex u.s. immigration system, answered thousands of members' questions, and helped thousands of Asylum seekers receive work permits.
Change led by Asylum seekers: asap's asylum-seeking members set the organization's priorities for how to change the Asylum system, and directly advocate for change using legal, organizing and communications strategies. During this fiscal year, asap members collectively won a major Advocacy victory that extended work permits for Asylum seekers to be valid for 5 years, fought for the rights of parents and children who experienced family separation, and advocated for a more welcoming united states.
