East Yard Communities for Environmental Justice

The eycej team has grown in the last couple of years, has transitioned into a co-directorship, and has become independent from our financial consultants. We have made great strides to build team capacity in financial transparency, distribute financial responsibility, and found resources for our now full time- administrative and finance assistant to build capacity and training to be a self-sustaining organization. In 2022 eycej was able to maintain all core positions and continue to build team capacity to engage in grants and financial awareness within the organization.we have also been able to sustain raises for the foreseeable future and maintain funder relations through the transition of our development support. We continue to focus on community organizing through virtual and in person activities related to air, water, and soil pollution. Our organization continues working on our strategic planning process, board capacity development, strengthening team capacity, and team building both remotely and in-person. The eycej team and members continue to push for health protections, including renter protections in bell gardens, and passing assembly bill 1857 - which eliminated diversion credits for incinerators in California, and created and completed our first ever water academy.
