Archives, digital archives, and museum: archives - sat / denoncourt / migration and interns / museum - museum survey(see more detail in schedule o)kennedy family collectionthe digital archives program continued in 2022 with the digitization of the Kennedy family collection scrapbooks and albums, a 52-volume collection chronicling three generations of president Kennedy's family. The george j. denoncourt ii photograph collection the denoncourt collection contains materials associated with "one man's vietnam through the eyes of combat photographer george denoncourt ii," an exhibit that was on display at the jfk presidential Library and museum from january 8, 1983 - february 28, 1983. The photographs included in the collection were taken by combat photographer george denoncourt ii while he served in vietnam in 1968-69, and offer an intimate view of the reality faced by soldiers and civilians during the vietnam war. In the fall of 2022, the Library's digitization team began the process of preparing for the digitization process by reviewing documentation and materials related to the collection. While this is very preliminary work, it is critical to the success of the upcoming digitization since it will ensure that all materials will be handled appropriately and preserved for generations to come. Migration of digital archivesthe Foundation also partnered with the Library on the migration of the digital archives from the Library's current digital asset management system to the new system. This has been a very complicated project that will ensure the preservation of the president's most important papers and documents. Museum surveythe Foundation funded a comprehensive study, completed in august 2022, to assess the museum's permanent exhibits, which are nearly 30 years old. A three-month onsite audience survey was conducted, reaching the target sample of 400 randomly selected visitor groups, seeking as broad a spectrum of age ranges, genders and ethnicities as possible. The goal of this quantitative research was to assess the experience of current visitors soon after seeing the existing exhibits. Online surveys of 300 households in the metro-boston community were also conducted to investigate area museum-goers' awareness the jfk Library, their expectations, and the motivating factors for potential audiences to visit. The final research phase involved qualitative research, via focus groups, of non-visitors within the local community. Its goal was to investigate perceptions of the Library among the local community people and explore what content/issues/topics are most meaningful to them.
