Program areas at Packer Collegiate Institute

Instructional & education - from preschool to high school, Packer provided education to about 1,000 students in fy 21-22. Packer is proud of the outstanding education we offer to our students. Our lower school stresses the fundamentals of literacy and mathematics in a joyful, student-focused environment, with ample time built in for social studies, science, art, music, library studies, dance, and physical education. Our lower school classrooms each have in-class libraries, current curricular materials, modern technology, wonderfully trained and experienced head and associate teachers. Starting in the middle school, Packer students participate in a school-wide laptop program, with each youngster utilizing his or her own computer, working in classrooms equipped with smart boards and other multi-media, so that technology is truly integrated as a daily part of everyone's education. Most Packer students begin to learn a foreign language in grade 6 and continue their studies through upper school. In the upper school, students encounter a rigorous and exciting program of required and elective offerings that enable them to pursue particular strength and talents. Modern science laboratories, gymnasium, a theater, and art, dance and music studios serve as ideal venues for beginning and advanced study in these areas. Opportunities also abound for young men and women to participate in competitive interscholastic athletics at both the varsity and junior varsity levels.
Auxiliary programs: Packer plus provides a rich array of after school offerings, from playgroup, robotics, sports, foreign language, and chess, for lower and middle school students. In the summer period, Packer also provides camp for 4-12 year-olds and counselor in training for 13 and 14 year-olds. The camp and counselor in training programs are open to non-packer students.
Financial aid: Packer is deeply committed to making a Packer education a viable option for all eligible students. Packer offers financial aid to enroll highly qualified students who could not otherwise afford to attend. During fiscal year 21-22, Packer provided financial aid to about 25% of its student body.
