Program areas at Texas Wesleyan University

Texas Wesleyan University was founded by the methodist episcopal church in 1890 and is the longest serving higher education institution in fort worth, led by president emily messer. Texas Wesleyan University launched a new strategic plan in 2021 called engage 2025. The new strategic plan focuses on engage in learning, engage in community and engage in leadership. Texas Wesleyan University offers undergraduate degrees in the schools of arts and sciences, business and education. Additionally, the University offers graduate degrees in the schools of business, education and health professions. The University has launched several online graduate programs within the past several years. The University also offers an honors curriculum and a pre-health science program. Endowed funds support scholarships, speaker series and many academic programs beyond the classroom. Official enrollment for the fall 2022 term include 1,954 undergraduate and 699 graduate and doctoral students for a total enrollment of 2,653.
Housing and residence life: the University offers traditional, suite-style, and apartment style halls on-campus with over 500 residents in fall 2022. Residence life staff focuses on regular one-on-one interactions with each resident focused on building relationships, stimulating community, and helping each resident find success at Texas Wesleyan. Residence life hosts programs in the residence halls that help students develop in the areas of healthy living, multicultural competence, global citizenship, leadership development, professional development, and educational exploration. Programming in the halls is based on current student needs.
STUDENT SERVICES AND ACADEMIC SUPPORT: CAREER SERVICES PROVIDES ACADEMIC SUPPORT SERVICES THROUGH PROGRAMMING, CLASSROOM ENGAGEMENT, JOB/INTERN PLACEMENT OPPORTUNITIES, AND INDIVIDUAL COUNSELING APPOINTMENTS. PROGRAMMING INCLUDES EVENTS FOCUSED ON PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT INCLUDING BUSINESS ETIQUETTE, DIGITAL NETWORKING PLATFORMS, INTERVIEW STRATEGIES, AND GRADUATE SCHOOL PREPARATION. PLACEMENT OPPORTUNITIES ARE AVAILABLE THROUGH STUDENT EMPLOYMENT FAIR, GRADUATE SCHOOL FAIR, CAREER FAIR, AND INDIVIDUAL ACADEMIC PROGRAM SHOWCASES SUCH AS COUNSELING GRADUATE STUDENT CAREER FAIR. CAREER SERVICES CONDUCTED 196 CONSULTATIONS IN 2022-2023 ADDRESSING TOPICS SUCH AS GRADUATE SCHOOL, TYPOLOGY ASSESSMENTS, JOB SEARCH, INTERNSHIP COUNSELING, MAJOR ADVISING, MOCK INTERVIEWS, RESUME REVIEWS, AND OTHER CAREER RELATED MATTERS. ORIENTATION AND NEW STUDENT EXPERIENCES COORDINATED 21 ORIENTATION SESSIONS SERVING 836 PROSPECTIVE STUDENTS FOR 2022-2023. THE OFFICe OF THE DEAN OF STUDENTS ADDRESSES MATTERS CONCERNING ALLEGED MISCONDUCT, CRISIS INTERVENTION, AND CONFLICT RESOLUTION. PROACTIVe EDUCATIONAL INITIATIVES INCLUDE PROGRAMMING FOR SEXUAL ASSAULT AWARENESS MONTH, DOMESTIC VIOLENCE AWARENESS MONTH, AND SAFE-ZONE TRAINING IN ADDITION TO PUBLISHING PREVENTION AND RESPONSE, WHICH IS A TITLE IX RESOURCE. THE TITLE IX POLICY AND WEBSITE WERE UPDATED TO REFLECT THE NEW REGULATIONS. THE DIVISION OF STUDENT AFFAIRS PROMOTES NUMEROUS SUPPORT SERVICES INCLUDING STUDENT ORGANIZATIONS, GREEK LIFE, SOCIAL PROGRAMMING, AND SERVICE LEARNINg PROGRAMS. THE MORTON FITNESS CENTER PROVIDES EQUIPMENT AND FACILITIES TO ENCOURAGE WELLNESS AND COMPETITIVE EXCELLENCE INCLUDING WEIGHT TRAINING, CARDIO, AND GROUP FITNESS CLASSES.
