Program areas at Young Men's Christian Association of the Fox Cities
Youth development : our ymca is committed to empowering Young people to reach their full potential. We believe that all kids deserve the opportunity to discover who they are and what they can achieve. That's why we help Young people cultivate the values, skills, and relationships that lead to positive behaviors, better health, and educational achievement. Our ymca programs, such as child care, arts and humanities, youth sports, teen programs, tutoring, water safety day, overnight and specialty camps, and camp hope offer a range of experiences that enrich cognitive, social, physical, and emotional growth. the ymca of the Fox Cities is proud to serve their community as the largest child care provider. Expenses include subsidies and direct financial assistance that make participation possible for 16% of the Young people we engage. In 2022, we provided $804,780 in financial assistance to youth who otherwise would have faced economic barriers to participation.
Social responsibility: we provide support and inspire action in our communities. Our ymca believes in giving back and supporting our neighbors. We have been listening and responding to our community's most critical social needs for more than 134 years. Y programs, such as livestrong at the y, safety around water, and outreach child care for families in crisis are examples of how we deliver training, resources, and support that empower our neighbors to effect change, bridge gaps, and overcome obstacles. In 2022, we engaged ymca members, participants, and volunteers in activities that strengthen our community and pave the way for future generations to thrive. the y provided $4.1 million in community benefit and direct financial assistance for membership, childcare, and program subsidies. These resources help ensure that, regardless of income, children and families have opportunities to be active and stay healthy. We have the community's trust to convene, partner, and support collaborations with schools, government, faith-based organizations, businesses, and others. In fact, the y collaborated with 352 agencies across Fox valley communities in 2022. At the y, we believe in membership and program for all, so everyone can be involved and that is why we provide financial assistance to community members in need.
Healthy living: at the y, we improve individual and community well-being. the y is a leading voice on health and well-being. We bring families closer together, encourage good health, and foster connections through fitness, sports, fun and shared interests. As a result, on a monthly average a total of 4,069 people in our community are receiving the support, guidance and resources they need to achieve greater health in spirit, mind and body. This is particularly important as our nation struggles with an obesity crisis, families struggle with work/life balance and individuals search for personal fulfillment. It is our responsibility to guide the health seeker in their journey to a healthy lifestyle. Our programs are accessible, affordable, and open to all faiths, backgrounds, abilities and income levels. In 2022, we provided $324,600 in financial assistance to people who otherwise would have faced economic barriers to participation.
