Education and awareness:supplier diversity - disability:in's supplier diversity program is the leading international certifier of businesses owned and controlled by persons with disabilities, including service-disabled veterans. The supplier diversity program offers resources, including learning and development opportunities on diverse supplier inclusion and specific initiatives designed to support disability inclusion in the supplier diversity programs of its business partners. With the end goal of enhancing access to contract opportunities, disability:in's supplier diversity program provides a connecting network between disability-owned business enterprises (dobes) and large corporations. Engagement events are held throughout the year and specialized supply chain/supplier diversity learning sessions and networking opportunities are offered at the annual disability:iDisabilityinin conference. Certification as a dobe, v-dobe or sdv-dobe through disability:iDisabilityinin provides a competitive edge for businesses owned by people with disabilities by opening new avenues for potential business and business development opportunities. At the end of 2022, the program had 512 certified dobes along with a growing, active, and corporate-led international certification committee and procurement council.disability equality index (dei) - the disability equality index (dei) is a comprehensive benchmarking tool that helps companies build a roadmap of measurable, tangible actions that they can take to achieve disability inclusion and equality. Each company receives a score, on a scale of zero (0) to 100, with those earning 80 and above recognized as a "best place to work for disability inclusion." There were 415 companies who participated in the 2022 dei, which was a 30% participation rate up from 2021.the dei is a joint initiative of the american association of people with disabilities (aapd), the nation's largest disability rights organization, and disability:inDisabilityinin, the global business disability inclusion network, to collectively advance the inclusion of people with disabilities. The organizations are complementary and bring unique strengths that make the project relevant and credible to corporations and the disability community. The tool was developed by the dei advisory committee, a diverse group of business leaders, policy experts, and disability advocates. Phase i of the pilot started in 2021 and included 40 participating companies in 30 countries. The questions were not weighted or scored, as the primary purpose of the pilot was to determine the feasibility of the questions as well as to learn about existing legal frameworks around disability in the workplace on a global scale. Phase ii of the pilot launched in 2022 with an online platform, which allowed 58 companies to submit responses for 63 countries. The interest in a global benchmark continues to increase, as non-us based companies seek ways to stay competitive in a turbulent market for qualified workers as well as consumers. In fall of 2023, disability:iDisabilityinin plans to debut the global dei as a scored benchmark in a group of 5-6 countries, which will be selected based on the following criteria: 1) most submitted countries through both phases of the pilot, and 2) equitable representation across the emea, latam and apac regions. Building an online platform for the purpose of multi-country analysis will allow disability:iDisabilityinin to scale up and invite a much larger number of companies to participate while enabling our team to graduate to much more sophisticated data discovery and interpretation.inclusion works program - inclusion works is a disability:iDisabilityinin program that provides unlimited, customized consulting on disability inclusion to participating companies through access to subject matter experts. Participating companies are connected to a community of corporations with exclusive meetings and shared best and evolving practices. Participating companies are up from 6 in 2014 to 127 in 2023 with a 98% retention rate. Companies hired over 300,000+ new individuals with disabilities, an over 88k% increase since 2014 and experienced a dei marked improvement from an average of 68% in 2015 to an average of 91% in 2022.nextgen leaders - the nextgen leader initiatives program is a six-month career mentoring opportunity for college students and recent graduates with disabilities, including veterans. These mentoring relationships are developed with business professionals from disability:iDisabilityinin partner companies.in 2022, there were 325 nextgen leaders which was an increase of 25% over 2021.additional 2022 demographics 67% poc including 27% african american/black and 21% hispanic. Additional identity 43% women, 23% lgbtqia+ and 11% veteran. Career focus 54% stem, 15% business and 4% finance.this program brings together employers (mentors) and nextgen leaders (mentees) in a mutually beneficial way. Mentees have access to engage, network, and interact with business professionals in their field of study or area of interest. The program encourages nextgen leaders to apply to participate in the talent accelerator program. The talent accelerator allows current nextgen leaders the opportunity to attend and participate in the annual conference. This 4-day intensive professional development program provides networking and interviewing opportunities among the disability:iDisabilityinin 500 corporate partners. Disability:inDisabilityinin. Additionally, we maintain a resume database of current nextgen leaders and alumni of the program that are seeking employment.digital accessibility program - the digital accessibility program provides access to disability:in's chief accessibility officer, jeff wissel and other team members to corporate partners for guidance on building enterprise-wide accessibility programs. Digital accessibility is about inclusion. It is the crucial quality of technology and content that enables people with disabilities to independently participate in the digital world. Captions on training videos and hiring portals that can be navigated without a mouse are just two examples of digital accessibility. The initiative develops and shares best practices for both buyers and sellers.in a supportive community of peers, procure access helps businesses understand how accessible procurement creates an inclusive workplace with better, more usable products and services for employees, customers, and the public. The procure access statement describes the pressing need to expand the number of businesses of all sizes that prioritize accessible procurement. The statement identifies obstacles facing both buyers and sellers committed to technology products and services that disabled employees and customers can use. And it establishes shared goals of the companies who have signed the statement, such as "encourage the sharing of transparent, current, and accurate information about technology product and service accessibility."
Conference and sponsorship - the 2022 disability:iDisabilityinin global conference and expo was the preeminent international business to business event that focused on disability inclusion in the workplace, marketplace and supply chain. The event drew over 4,000 attendees virtually and in-person from private sector fortune 1,000 businesses, disability employment service providers, government policy leaders, small business owners with disabilities, mid-level professionals with disabilities, and post-secondary students and recent graduates with disabilities including service-disabled military veterans. Corporate executives shared disability inclusion policies, strategies and effective programs during 6 plenary sessions and over 30 breakout sessions. A pre-conference job seeking skills program was conducted for over 50 college students and recent graduates with disabilities.
