The Independent Film & Television Alliance sponsors the american Film market (afm). The afm is the most efficient Film acquisition, development and networking event in the world. It is a marketplace where production and distribution deals are closed. With thousands of industry professionals from more than 70 countries, hundreds of production/distribution/sales companies, and more than 300 feature films screening, the afm continues to be the pivotal destination for acquisition and development executives, agents, attorneys, directors, distributors, festival directors, financiers, Film commissioners, producers, writers, the world's press and all those who provide services to the motion picture industry.

The Independent Film & Television Alliance's participation at various international Film and Television markets enables its members to establish and maintain a global presence in the distribution of motion picture and Television product.

Ifta collections secures the royalties and levies that flow from secondary audio-visual rights for Film and Television worldwide. Secondary rights include cable, satellite and other retransmission royalties, private copy levies, video rental levies, educational royalties, theatrical box office levies, public performance Television royalties, and public performance video royalties. Highly regarded and result-driven, since 1994 ifta collections has collected more than $160 million on behalf of the companies whose Film and Television works it represents from producers and authors societies throughout the world.

Ifta arbitration is a well-established international dispute resolution system that fairly, quickly, and economically resolved disputes involving entertainment-related production, finance, and distribution agreements. Open to the worldwide industry at large, ifta arbitration has administered the resolution of disputes in more than 3,050 cases involving more than $970 million in claims since its inception in 1984. Ifta arbitration may be used for a wide variety of domestic and international entertainment disputes, such as those arising out of production agreements, motion picture, Television and multimedia licensing agreements, financing agreements, Film exhibition agreements and sales agency agreements, to name a few. In december 2021, the ifta board approved the agreement between ifta and icdr/aaa so that effective january 1, 2022, icdr/aaa would be the service provider of all ifta arbitrations filed after that date. The transition of arbitration cases from ifta to the icdr/aaa has been very positive. They have boarded and trained most ifta arbitrators and have started to also recruit arbitrators with this experience from other global locations. The idcr/aaa case management team is handling these cases expeditiously as they are filed, according to the rules provided for in the contract of the parties. They will be offering mediation as an option early in the case process when the 2022 rules come into effect for cases going forward.
