International Wolf Center promotes and educates the public about the importance of wolves and advances their survival by teaching about their relationship to wildlands and the human role in their future. In 2021, they held 11 biologist webinars taught by experts from around the world with a total of 2,364 participants, including topics like how wolves alter wetlands. Additionally, they offered 7 different learning adventure programs at their interpretive center in Ely, Minnesota with 83 participants, including Wolf research day adventure and Jr. Wolf biologist camps.

Program areas at International Wolf Center

The International Wolf Center welcomed more than 40,000 visitors to its interpretive Center in ely, mn in 2022. 38,904 visitors experienced the discover wolves! Interactive exhibit, daily programs offered by education staff, joined a pup viewing program to see our 2 new Wolf pups and observed the 3 adult wolves in our exhibit pack. 1,280 group participants also enjoyed a custom created on-site field trip.
Virtual learning opportunities allow us to expand our reach to audiences all over the u.s. and world. 12,058 students of all ages learned about wolves from their schools and homes through wolflink virtual field trips or biologist and Wolf care webinars. In 2022, participants from at least 41 states and more than 13 countries joined our programs. 133 people participated in a day or weekend long learning adventure to try radio telemetry, making a plaster Wolf track or snowshoeing through Wolf country. Off-site programming was conducted for 476 local students who received live, in-person Wolf programming at their school.
The International Wolf symposium, sponsored by the International Wolf Center, was conducted in minneapolis in october of 2022. There was a total of 442 participants, including 71 students, 46 volunteers and board members, 32 speakers. The total number represented 37 states and 17 countries. The conference was highlighted by expert biologists from around the world speaking on Wolf issues, students presenting papers on their research in concurrent sessions, a mentoring session for undergraduate and graduate students seeking a future in the world of biology, and an opportunity to network with people involved in Wolf biology and other environmental issues.
