Program areas at NCRP

Field initiatives: ncrp works with grantmakers and nonprofits to advocate for Philanthropy to move more and better resources and shift more power to frontline movement organizations that advance systemic change and social justice. This includes our issue-specific movement investment projects; in fy23 we continued our reproductive access & gendered violence project while publicly launching a climate justice & just transition movement investment project. Ncrp's "power moves" toolkit is a framework that helps funders assess how their organizations build, share, and wield power for lasting impact.
Research: ncrp produces original research and analysis on grantmaking to movements and to organizations led by and serving communities with the least wealth, power, and opportunity. Fy2023 highlights include research to support ncrp's new climate justice campaign and research for the groundbreaking report "cracks in the foundation: Philanthropy's role in reparations for black people in the dmv."
Communications: ncrp frames debates in Philanthropy and drives narrative change by sharing our own original research, analysis, resources, and other content, as well as by elevating relevant news and insights from across the sector. Communications channels include our e-newsletters, blog, social media, the Responsive Philanthropy online journal, and our earned media efforts.
Membershipncrp's work is grounded in relationships with our nonprofit members: movement organizations working in our movement investment project areas (reproductive access & gendered violence; climate justice & just transition) and on issues of democracy, economic equity, educational equity, migrant justice, and more. Nonprofits become ncrp members through a data-for-dues system of sharing information that informs our work. Ncrp engages nonprofit members in our efforts to advocate with Philanthropy to help reorient dynamics between grantmakers and frontline change agents.
Impact awards: impact awards: ncrp's biennial impact awards recognize people and institutions who exemplify ncrp's vision of Philanthropy that builds, shares, and wields power with communities, directs resources to frontline movements for a just and equitable world, and pushes peers in the sector to do the same.
