Nevada Humane Society cares for pets, helps find them homes and saves lives by giving loving care to various animals with the aid of trained animal care staff and volunteers. Adoption counselors assist in matching animals with their suitable owners. They provide spay and neuter surgeries, vaccinations, and healthcare services for all dogs, cats, and other small animals that come into the shelter. The Society also offers low-cost spaying, neutering, and vaccination services to the public.

Program areas at Nevada Humane Society

The shelter provides care to primarily dogs and cats but also to rabbits, gerbils, hamsters, reptiles, birds and other small animals. All animals receive loving care from trained animal care staff and volunteers. Adoption counselors help match animals to their forever homes based on age and lifestyle. The animal help desk provides free assisance and information to anyone who has a question regarding their pet or other animal in the community with the intent of keeping pets in their homes and out of shelters.during 2022, the Society placed approximately 8,800 animals in new homes making washoe county and carson city some of the safest communities for homeless animals.
Public service includes the trap-neuter-return program (tnr) which allows feral cats to be spayed and neutered and provided with vaccinations. Additionally, public service includes functions related to animal services in carson city, Nevada including: dog licensing, bite investigations, reporting lost and found animals and enforcement of state and local animal regulations, except wildlife.
The Society's clinic provides spay and neuter surgeries, vaccinations and care for all dogs and cats that pass through our shelter. Additionally, low-cost spay and neuter services and vaccination services are provided to the public.
