Description
The work of SCFC comes in many forms. We create and manage programs, including the Community Oral Health Initiatives and Farm to Families. We invest in many of the best organizations providing innovative, successful children’s health interventions. And we bring people and organizations together to create well rounded, responsive strategies to critical children’s health issues. Our strategies are diverse, but they all allow us to realize our ultimate goal: improved health and wellness, and a lifetime of success, for children in need.

Program areas at SCFC

The community oral health initiative program facilitates care, at no cost to families and services to low-income Children, including those who are uninsured, providing comprehensive treatment and education. The program reaches thousands of Children annually, collaborating with schools (public, parochial and charter), and community based organizations (including shelters and community events). St. Christopher's hospital for Children hosts clinic days and evenings on its campus, and provides in-kind goods and services including office space and parking, clinical oversight, and participation of dental residents who provide clinical assistance to the program.
Scfc serves as the fiduciary and fiscal sponsor for over 25 donor designated funds that support research, education and patient comfort at St. Christopher's hospital for Children.
Our farm to families program is a collaborative, community-based effort to improve the diets and health of Children and families in philadelphia by addressing obstacles to healthy eating. St. Christopher's Foundation for Children partners with lancaster farm fresh cooperative ("lffc") to provide access to nutritious, fresh and local foods. Farm to families provides information on nutrition and food preparation. Lffc sources, packages and delivers fresh food to farm to families community food hubs. The majority of the produce is organically grown, picked fresh and brought down to philadelphia the very next day - making it some of the healthiest food available in the country.
The ralph w. brenner endowed chair in pediatrics. This is a permanent endowment that can be used for the research of the health and well-being of under-privileged youth within the north philadelphia area. The research information obtained is used for article publications and other comprehensive services.
