Program areas at SCAA
Website and public communications - scaa's website is a primary communications vehicle to raise public awareness of Sudden Cardiac Arrest (sca) through current and medically correct information that includes feature stories, sca survivor stories, medical research news which is supplemented with a bi-weekly published electronic newsletter with a circulation of more than 5,000. Efforts focused on designing and enhancing the site, writing and editing the web original content, expanding resources and links to other recommended sites, and attracting new users to the site.
Scaa programs - scaa started developing and implementing new programs including: (i) completed development of a chapter and consumer online site for obtaining defibrillators and related equipment and items for chapter awards; (ii) continued its recognition program for those that have assisted in savings lives that would otherwise be lost to sca; (iii) continued its help program, called cope, to assist victims of Sudden Cardiac Arrest and implantees of internal defibrillators with non medical issues associated with these events and to assist the families involved with these events and issues; and (iv) commenced planning for it podcast program.
Conferences/meetings, training & education - scaa, primarily through its chapters, promoted a greater understanding of Sudden Cardiac Arrest through participation in national state and local events and serves as a resource for people seeking information about sca, cpr training, aed placement and medical therapies such as internal Cardiac defibrillators (icds). Additionally, scaa provided consultation and guidance to its members regarding pending state and local legislation and policies and shared information about state and local advocacy efforts with other members and the generial public.
