Program areas at Westmoreland Museum of American Art
Collections relate directly to the historical and cultural heritage of the community by presenting the fine and decorative arts of southwestern Pennsylvania within the context of the broader American Art scene. Through the collections, visitors learn about Art as an expression of history and culture of the region. We provide interpretation to support learning through gallery guides, wall texts, extended labels for individual works, and interactive opportunities. Approximately 15% of the Museum's permanent collection is on view to the public at all times. In addition to continuing to acquire new works by purchase and gift, the Museum also actively conserves works already in our collection.
