Program areas at Artwise
Artwise provides support to grand forks 3,600 elementary students through the visual art program artist in the classroom program. Each student receives 17 hours of directed arts activities from trained art instructors who utilize state and national standards in creating their curriculums. This program has been a part of grand forks public schools for 24 years. In 2015, 20 volunteers provided 80 hours of service to this program.
Artwise provides the community of grand forks with a full color 13-month children's art calendar. This calendar contains school dates and highlights the art programs for each area elementary public or private school. Artwise produces and distributes 3,800 calendars to all area elementary school families. 10 local artists are also highlighted in the calendar. 30 volunteers provide 60 hours of service for this program.
Artwise's annual elementary art show includes all area children from rural and urban public and private schools. Several hundred people participate in this three day festival of children's art. The gallery of over 4,000 pieces of art is joined by stage performers, art activity tables and artist's demonstrations. Area businesses, college programs, and community groups provide 250 volunteers and over 600 hours of service for this program.
