Program areas at ATASK

The boston community based advocacy services (cbs) work with the shelter and legal programs to provide coordinated care. These non-residential services, which are provided at the organization's boston office, include case management and advocacy, support, information and referrals and life skills to assist clients. Each client works with an advocate that provides services in the following languages: chinese (cantonese, mandarin, and taiwanese), hindi, thai, bangla, khmer (cambodian), korean, nepali, punjabi, indonesian, filipino, tamil, urdu and vietnamese. Services help clients rebuild lives, become self-sufficient and adjust to american culture. English language classes teach reading and writing skills, job and career development.
The lowell community based advocacy services (lcbas) services victims of Domestic Violence in the communities of greater lowell. The lowell advocates integrate direct services with prevention, outreach, community organizing and education. Lcbas also works with the shelter and legal programs to provide coordinated care.
The emergency shelter program provides a 24-hour multilingual hotline, crisis intervention and temporary housing for families fleeing abuse. The shelter provides an environment to assist clients in leading a violence-free life. Basic living necessities are provided to shelter residents. The organization offers services including the following: case management, child-focused and parent-focused components designed to address the diverse mental health needs of children who have witnessed Domestic Violence; group and individual activities for survivors and their children and one-on-one counseling to children and their parents. Other activities include work with school officials and referrals to other resources such as early intervention programs & affordable childcare.
The education and outreach program seeks to increase accessibility and awareness of culturally and linguistically appropriate Domestic Violence services and to encourage collaboration with other service providers and community groups in preventing Violence. Activities include participation in community specific networks, coalitions and trainings to organizations and individuals in understanding and responding to Domestic Violence within immigrant and refugee Asian populations and other marginalized communities.
