BSW Fort Worth is affiliated with Baylor Scott & White Health (BSWH), a faith-based nationally acclaimed network of acute care hospitals and related health care entities providing quality patient care, medical education, medical research and other community services to the residents of North and Central Texas. As the largest not-for-profit health care system in Texas and one of the largest in the United States, BSWH was born from the 2013 combination of Baylor Health Care System and Scott & White Healthcare. Today, BSWH has over 1,200 patient access points including 51 hospitals, 590 specialty care clinics, 254 outpatient clinics, 158 primary care clinics, 32 pharmacies, 30 ambulatory surgery centers, and more than 7,000 active physicians. The system also includes a state certified health maintenance organization, the Scott and White Health Plan and the Baylor Scott & White Quality Alliance accountable care organization both covering over 1,000,000 lives. BSW Fort Worth is an award-winning full-service hospital dedicated to providing for the health care needs of the Fort Worth community. BSW Fort Worth is among Tarrant County's oldest not-for-profit hospitals and offers a broad range of medical services including programs of excellence in cardiology, transplantation, oncology, women's services and many more.During the fiscal year, BSW Fort Worth admitted 22,403 patients resulting in 106,225 days of care; delivered 6,394 babies and received 48,672 emergency department visits. Additionally, BSW Fort Worth provided community benefits (as reported to the Texas Department of State Health Services and in accordance with the State of Texas Statutory methodology) of $90,560,570 and provided community benefits (as reported on the Internal Revenue Service Form 990, Schedule H) of $40,700,196 during the tax year. The Texas Annual Statement of Community Benefit Standard includes approximately $58,241,326 of unreimbursed cost of Medicare that is not included in the IRS Form 990, Schedule H.See Schedule H for more information regarding these services and how BSW Fort Worth promotes the health of the communities.
See Schedule OBSW Fort Worth aims to address the residency and physician shortages by developing and implementing a comprehensive fully accredited Graduate Medical Education program to train and retain exceptional young doctors to become the next generation of physicians for Fort Worth and Texas. BSW Fort Worth has developed residency programs in Internal Medicine, Emergency Medicine, Obstetrics and Gynecology, and General Surgery. The first class of residents were welcomed in July 2021, with a plan to grow to 150 residents by 2026. Our Graduate Medical Education programs here at BSW Fort Worth are affiliated with the TCU and UNTHSC School of Medicine. This academic affiliation is extremely advantageous for our residents, hospital, and community as a whole. Many of our faculty work with both BSW Fort Worth and the medical school to create an integrated and seamless learning experience. Residents and medical students alike are exposed to a multitude of training sites and resources that aid in learning as a result of this partnership. Assisting with the preparation of future nurses at entry and advanced levels of nursing is critical in establishing a workforce of qualified nurses. During the year, BSW Fort Worth invested in training 351 undergraduate nurses. During the year, BSW Fort Worth incurred unreimbursed cost of $5,585,322 for the operations of these medical education programs.
