Uwbc processes several workplace giving campaigns. As part of this workplace giving employees can choose to designate their donation to an organization that has been determined to be an irs approved 501(c)(3) organization.
Affordable housingbergen County's United Way works to address the affordable housing crisis in northern and central new jersey by building safe and affordable housing for seniors, veterans, working families and adults with disabilities (i.e., down syndrome, autism, and multiple sclerosis). The organization manages all aspects of development from site acquisition and financing to construction and service coordination. Bergen County's United Way has built 40 affordable housing projects. These projects serve over 600 seniors, families and adults with developmental disabilities each day. Another 26 developments are in predevelopment.
Nj211bergen County's United Way provides oversight of the nationally accredited nj211 information and referral system. Access to nj211 is free, confidential, multilingual, and always open. Nj211 connects these callers to its network of over 3,000 agencies that provide more than 10,000 services such as mental health counseling, food assistance and homelessness prevention. In 2022, nj211 helped over 1.1 million people find health and human service resources in local communities throughout new jersey. The compassion fundbergen County's United Way provides financial assistance to community members experiencing a financial crisis. The compassion fund is the largest source of direct and timely financial assistance in Bergen County. A licensed clinical social worker and case workers assess each household and provide the financial resources needed to prevent eviction, reinstate utilities, and keep families safe.
