Program areas at Boothbay Region YMCA
Aquatics - Our pool is a very important asset to our community, surrounded by water, that brings all ages together from water aerobics, swim lessons, swim team, lap swimming, and family swim. The Y provides free, 2nd Grade Water Safety Classes to all the area schools. The Aquatics department requires the staff to be certified and trained more than any other department in the Y.
Camp - Fit Kids is a licensed afterschool program for students K through 5th grade, at the Y's Camp Knickerbocker Campus and Camp K, is our summer program, serving children 5-years old through 13 years old. Both programs support working families and are designed to encourage independence, learn new skills, develop lifelong friends in a safe environment, led by instructors who are certified and trained.
Other Youth Programs - Youth sports department provides youth development programs for children ages 3-16, as well as intramural programs for adults and teen services throughout the year. Programs range from basketball and gymnastics, to family bootcamp and robotics, and so much more. The Y's outreach program provided healthy snacks during the year to children and adults who may be struggling financially to put food on the table. Our tennis department provides racquet and paddle sports for members and program participants throughout the year. Youth tennis is not offered in the summer months; however, we have a robust program during the school year that serves individuals 3-18 in group lessons. Our adult tennis and pickleball community is passionate about playing throughout the year. Y Arts is our most successful program, developing self-confidence in youth, through dance, theater, voice, art, violin, and much more, to children ages 3-18 years old.
Childcare - The Y's Harbor Montessori School provides working families with the critical need of childcare, for children 6 weeks to 5 years of age. Utilizing the Montessori Method fosters rigorous, self-motivated growth for children and adolescents in all areas of their development-cognitive, emotional, social, and physical.
Wellness - Impacts the community by ensuring everyone can learn, grow and thrive by offering healthy living classes, which 25 a week are included with their membership dues.
