The Boston Area Rape Crisis Center (BARCC) is the only rape crisis center in the Greater Boston area and the oldest and largest center in Massachusetts. Their vision is to end sexual violence through healing and social change.

Program areas at BARCC

Client services: counseling: barcc works with sexual violence survivors and their loved ones to address and heal from sexual violence through sessions each year. 24-hour Crisis hotline: highly trained and supervised volunteers provide in the moment support 24-7 to 4,200 callers case management: barcc offers over 1,000 sessions for short-term assistance to survivors with the complex issues that arise in the aftermath of sexual violence e.g., emergency housing, and victim compensation. Legal advocacy: barcc offers comprehensive legal assistance helping survivors explore and/or work through criminal and civil legal issues stemming from an assault through 1,200 sessions each year. Access to forensic information (afi) project: we work with agencies throughout Massachusetts to ensure survivors receive accurate information about their options for sexual assault exams and evidence collection. Prison Rape elimination act (prea) Rape Crisis services: supports survivors of sexual violence who are incarcerated in Massachusetts with hotline and hospital accompaniment services.
Community engagement and prevention: community awareness and prevention services : the organization participates in over 160 events annually providing education and training to schools, college campuses, police, businesses and community-based organizations. Movement for access, safety, and survivors (mass) collaboration: the collaboration works to make services more supportive and accessible to survivors with disabilities
