Program areas at Brevard Schools Foundation

Education programs-school based. The Foundation supports innovation in all 85 Brevard public schools(bps) by raising funds and directing donor designated gifts to areas that enhance education. Students benefit through programs, such as robotics, innovation labs, science and art fairs, as well as through professional development and training for bps teachers. The Foundation directly supports annual study trips for each of the districts: 5th grade students to the Brevard symphony orchestra; 6th grade students to kennedy space center for the destination space program; and the 8th grade students to the moore multicultural center. Bsf hosts the abc awards annual recognition event, implementing several teaching quality intiatives and providing the take stock in children program.
Established in Brevard county in 1996, take stock in children is a drop-out prevention, college readiness, scholarship and mentoring program for deserving, low-income, at-risk middle and high school students who desire to attend college. Tsic promotes personal growth, self responsibility, and academic success by providing a unique set of resources including mentors, scholarships, long-term support, student advocacy, and a guaranteed educational opportunty. Upon successful completion, students receive a two-year college scholarship. In the last five years, take stock in children of Brevard county boasts a 100% graduation rate and a 94% college entrance rate for students who enter the program.
Established in 2014, the supply zone for teachers is a resource center that engages communities through supply drives and fundraising to provide free supplies to teachers at high-poverty Schools. By focusing on low-income and homeless student populations, the supply zone works to ensure that all children have access to the necessary school supplies and hygiene products despite their circumstances. Students no longer have to feel disconnected, embarrassed, and unprepared when they come to school without supplies; the tools they need to succeed are ready and waiting for them in the classroom. The supply zone has distributed more than 7.5 million in free supplies since inception.
Scholarships and student awards - 148 awarded (94 senior scholarships and 54 Florida prepaid scholarships) scholarships change lives by helping students achieve their higher education goals and dreams. The scholarships for graduating seniors program offered merit or need-based scholarship opportunities. The foundations take stock in children (tsic) drop-out prevention program offered scholarships for income-eligible students who met tsic requirements.
