Program areas at Catholic Charities Southwestern Ohio
Catholic Charities Southwestern Ohio welcomes refugees escaping persecution, war and violence in their homelands and empowers them to build new lives and become self-sufficient in a welcoming community. Since 1980, Catholic Charities has resettled thousands of refugees from all over the world in Greater Cincinnati. Through its Refugee Resettlement Services in 2022, Catholic Charities resettled and supported 158 newly arrived refugees, Afghans and Ukrainian parolees. In addition, the program provided emergency assistance, case management, job readiness, financial literacy and youth mentoring to hundreds more refugee families.
St. Matthew includes the "stranger" in the final judgment on love (Mt 25:31-46). Founded in 1997, Su Casa Hispanic Center extends a loving welcome and serves as a primary provider of social services to the Hispanic/Latino community in Greater Cincinnati. In 2022, Su Casa provided emergency assistance stabilization services, ESOL, education, health promotions, case management and family reunification services to over 4,000 clients.
Feeding the Hungry - Catholic Charities serves the hungry through emergency food assistance in Hamilton, Clermont, Brown, Adams, Clinton and Highland Counties. Through its food pantries and school-based programs, 362,000 meals were provided to nearly 8,000 residents.
Additionally, Catholic Charities supported family development by providing Early Childhood Mental Health consultations and Parenting Education to 2,150 parents, children, teachers and daycare providers. Through its Americorps Seniors programming, over 94,000 hours of volunteer services were given to low-income seniors and students in schools. Caregiver assistance supported 235 individuals caring for sick and elderly loved ones. The agency conducted over 2,257 Mental Health Counseling sessions and supported clients with Post-Adoption services. Over 500 clients received immigration legal services, and 2,600 clients accessed translation services in multiple languages through Catholic Charities' AccuracyNow Language Services.
