Center City provides grants to refurbish building facades, organizes community social events in the downtown area, and encourages downtown development. Current downtown events include: the Center City mural run; the electric light parade in early december that concludes with the lighting of the City's christmas tree; high noon on the square during june and july which is a free concert with lunch on the lawn of the historic potter county courthouse; jazztober which is a free jazz concert in october on the lawn of the historic bivins home; Amarillo community market which brings the community downtown each saturday between june-september to eat and shop local from various vendors.
