Program areas at Center for Creative Living
The Center for Creative Living, where it feels like homeThe Center for Creative Living focuses on improving the quality of life for senior citizens in SW Oklahoma. The CCL offers programs to teach & encourage physical wellness, nutrition & diet; emotional/social wellness; and intellectual wellness. Without the CCL there would be increased rates of isolation, depression, injury, illness, and early death among our senior citizens. The CCL is a critical component in the aging continuum of care and fills an important need for seniors. Active, healthy aging not only benefits individuals, but communities as well. Active seniors are more engaged, volunteer more, and generally add value to the overall fabric of a thriving community. This past year:The CCL served over 22,000 meals. We clocked 13,650 volunteer hours which has a pay value of $19,474.We found 3 new grantors: Anderson, Sarkeys, and ARPA and CDBG plus the new in at Classic Chevy. We had to cancel all inside activities again this year because of a COVID outbreak but moved our nutrition services to drive-through pick as we did during the thick of COVID. But we have a contract tracing program we use to identify who was in which class and with whom.Added 8 new classes this year to our program: Sea Masters, Canasta, Bunco, Book Club, Bingo, Golden Dancers, Garden Club, Knit HappensContinue upkeep on building: Repaired a huge water leak, Day of Caring, fixed sprinkler system, updated and repaired Greenhouse, hot water heater. Finally created and secured a website: wwwcenterforcreativelivingorgHealth and Wellness ExpoFundraising began again after COVIDBus trips started again after COVIDAARP Taxes (1300 taxes prepared for individuals at no charge) and AARP Safe Driving
