Program areas at Endocrine Society

Education and meetings: the Endocrine Society provides educational programs for researchers and medical professionals to increase the understanding of biomedical research into Endocrine disorders and the treatment of patients with endocrine-related medical conditions. Es is accredited by the accreditation council for continuing medical education (accme) and all continuing medical education programs are developed in strict compliance with accme standards and requirements.each year es holds a four-day educational meeting (endo) focused on the broad field of endocrinology. Each attendee may earn up to 32.5 continuing medical education credits for the core education curriculum.endo 2022 (june 11-14) was hosted in atlanta, Georgia and was the Endocrine Society's inaugural hybrid event. The conference boasted a full program of top-flight sessions led by 400+ experts from all around the worldwith content available in-person and onlineand a bustling exhibit center. Endo 2022 featured new opportunities to interact with the latest breakthroughs in our field. For example, digital posters provided attendees with access to thousands of abstracts, all at the touch of a button, accessible from anywhere in the world. What's more, the conference hailed more networking opportunities for our attendees to reunite, in-person, since our last in-person gathering in late 2019.
Government and public affairs: es follows policy issues important to the professional lives of its members. This includes: access to care,funding for biomedical research, prevention and treatment of diabetes and obesity, regulation of endocrine-disrupting chemicals, and medicare physician payment. The Society represents its members' interests to federal policy makers by providing information to policy makers,submitting comments to federal agencies, developing position statements and recommendations, and, within the limitations of a 501c3, through direct lobbying.the Society also represents its members' interests through participation with other groups and coalitions, such as the american medical association (ama), the federation of american societies of experimental biology (faseb), and the coalition for health funding
Publications: es publications engage in three areas of activity:1. Journals: es publishes five peer-reviewed scientific journals that are published continuously. The journals further the understanding of biomedical research into Endocrine disorders and the treatment of patients. The journals publish more than 1,000 articles a year. Over 2,600 es members donate time during the year to the peer review process. Es also publishes reference books for physicians and health professionals, and licenses the distribution rights for its journals, books, and other content to third parties worldwide.2. Books: es publishes reference books for physicians and health professionals wanting a self- assessment and broad review of all areas of endocrinology, diabetes, and metabolism, as well as the latest updates in the diagnosis and management of a wide range of Endocrine disorders.3. Licensing: es licenses the distribution rights for its journals, books, and other content to third parties worldwide.
Membership, marketing, public education and othermembershipthe Endocrine Society is a membership organization of more than 18,000 Endocrine professionals with a global reach spanning 120 countries. This member-exclusive community will also allow for open, in-depth discussions between members; from questions on cases to sharing cutting-edge Endocrine research, has created a space for high-quality, clinical, and scientific research discussions among members.diversity programsthe Endocrine Society values and seeks diverse and inclusive participation within the field of endocrinology. The Endocrine Society promotes involvement and expands access to leadership opportunities regardless of race, ethnicity, gender, religion, age, sexual orientation, nationality, disability, appearance, geographic location, or professional level. The organization provides leadership and commits staff, time, and resources to the accomplishment of this objective while serving as a model to both the scientific and clinical space. The long-term goal is to ensure that its membership, volunteer leadership, and staff represent a strong vibrant and evolving model of diversity and inclusion. The Society created a new senior level position dedicated to diversity and inclusion within the chief membership & diversity programs officer role. The future leaders advancing research in endocrinology (flare) is a leadership program that supports trainees and junior faculty from communities underrepresented in medical and biologic sciences (as defined by nih). Participants learn about advancing in the field as well as into leadership positions in the association while having an opportunity to network with leaders in their field. The excellence in clinical endocrinology leadership is a workshop designed to empower underrepresented minority emerging physicians for successful transition into clinical care and endocrinology leadership.
