Program areas at Franklin County Historical Society- Kittochtinny

Museum, which is open to the general public, was open approximately 200 days during 2022. Annual visitation to museums is approximately 2,250 of which 1,273 are student groups & boy and girl scouts. Tours explain the history of the building, plus exhibits throughout the building portray the local cultural history including exhibits of an early drug store, a country kitchen, farm tools, items from the civil war period, musical intruments, and local native american artifacts.library, which is open to the general public, was open approximately 200 days during 2022. Annual visitation to library is approximately 500. It maintains and facilitates the use of an extensive local history and genealogical library. Archives include school, church records, business ledgers, family histories, tax and census lists, local maps, veterans, marriage and obituary notices, cemetery records, local newspapers, etc.the society maintains three buildings which have significant Historical value to the area. The buildings are open and available to groups for tours and other educational uses.john brown house, which is open to the general public, was open approximately 200 days during 2022. Tours explain history of john brown house. House is fully furnished in 1850 period furnishings, which is the period of when john brown lived there.
