Girls on the Run of North Central West Virginia

Girls on the Run of North Central West Virginia educates girls, ages eight to twelve, through an interactive running program designed to promote self-respect and healthy living. The program reduces potential at-risk behaviors among participants by requiring each girl to choose and conduct a community service project and complete a 1 mile or 3.1 mile running event with their team members. Results show improved sense of identity, healthier body image, and increasingly active lifestyles for the girls that participate.
