Program areas at Great Lakes Community Action Partnership

Child development - early head start, head start, and migrant and seasonal head start (mshs) programs for children ages birth through 5, with a focus on kindergarten readiness for children. Programs support children's social, emotional, cognitive, and physical development in a developmentally appropriate play-based environment. Programs also offer support opportunities for family members. Early head start and head start services are provided through center-based and home-based options in a five-county region, and mshs services are provided at five sites throughout Ohio. Glcap served more than 1,500 children through these programs.after-school and summer programming offer homework assistance, meals, enrichment programming, workforce preparation, tutoring, and other activities in a safe environment for more than 50 school high school students in fremont, Ohio.
Community development - Community development services that provide free and low-cost assistance to help rural communities address planning, infrastructure, and economic development needs. Glcap administers the Great Lakes rural Community assistance program (rcap), providing services for communities in Indiana, Illinois, Kentucky, Michigan, Ohio, west Virginia, and Wisconsin. Rcap field agents assist with project development and provide training for capacity building for small, rural communities. Glcap served more than 644 communities and trained over 3,960 participants in 2022.international programming that supports civil society and leadership development among participants, with a focus on programming primarily in central and eastern european countries.
Adult and youth development - educational and employment skills development for youth and young adults receiving temporary assistance for needy families (tanf) aid in Partnership with department of job and family services (djfs) locations in select counties for more than 150 youth and young adults.financial opportunity center (foc) services that provide income supports, housing counseling, household budgeting, and assistance with improving credit scores and wealth building for 77 participants in 2022. Utility assistance programs in a four-county region. Services include emergency winter heating assistance for households at risk of utility disconnects or with already disconnected service, or in need of fuel supplies; summer cooling aid to assist seniors and residents with chronic medical conditions; and utility payment plan options for low-income households for 4,850 households.housing and rental assistance services for homeless and at-risk individuals and families, including options for domestic violence survivors and veterans. Housing and rental assistance services are provided in a seven-county region, and veteran-specific services are provided in a ten-county region for 1,602 households.

Housing and rental assistance services for homeless and at-risk individuals and families, including options for domestic violence survivors and veterans. Housing and rental assistance services are provided in a seven-county region, and veteran-specific services are provided in a ten-county region for over 2,212 households.weatherization services that include home insulation, furnace repair or replacement, and other services to improve home energy usage and utility expenditures for low and moderate-income households in a six-county region. Glcap also offers home repair and rehabilitation services that provide plumbing, electrical, roofing, hvac, ada modifications and other necessary residential home repairs for income-eligible households. The home repair program is operated in Partnership with eleven northwest and north-central Ohio counties and communities. Over 124 households were weatherized in 2022, along with more than 113 households receiving home repair services.
Seniors - senior services for sandusky county residents ages 60 and over and their spouses, regardless of age. Services include senior center programming at three county site locations; meals on wheels for homebound seniors; health and safety-related home repairs; and other services for over 774 seniors.
Trips program - public transportation through the transportation resources for independent persons in sandusky county (trips) program for sandusky county residents. Trips offers on-demand service for curb-to-curb transportation as well as shuttle service within the city of fremont, Ohio. Trips provided more than 31,852 rides through on-demand and shuttle service transportation in 2022.
