Increasing climate resilience and improving health - the organization partners with affiliated Groundwork trusts to improve access to parks, trails, and open spaces, reducing the impact of climate crisis, and increasing access to healthy foods. In 2022, the organization awarded $2,755,044 to support 28 multi-year projects that advance equity-centered climate, land, and water justice projects supported by coaching, collaboration, and shared learning.
Youth and workforce development - the organization supports the 4,534 youth and young adults engaged in education, recreation, and jobs with affiliated Groundwork trusts while bringing 125+ young people to national parks and historic sites, increasing their connection to nature through age-appropriate experiential learning and workforce programs that combine environmental education, conservation, and career training.
Building the environmental justice field - the organization advances the work of more than 700 environmental justice and water equity practitioners through webinars, workshops, resource development, and coaching provided through our epa brownfields equitable development technical assistance and the urban waters learning network.
Strengthening the network - the organization builds the capacity of its 21 affiliated Groundwork trusts to successfully design, implement, and manage community-led environmental and public health projects and programs by facilitating a robust ecosystem of coaching, technical assistance, training, resource development, and shared services that improve the organizational effectiveness and impact of our grassroots partners.
