Program areas at Health Equity Council

Opioid Accountability Initiative - HEC serves as the backbone organization for this collective impact initiative involving multiple sectors in the community who are working to prevent abuse of opioids (prescription painkillers and heroin) and reduce opioid-related overdose deaths in Bernalillo County.
Albuquerque/Bernalillo County Prevent HEC serves as convener of the ABC Prevent project with a primary role of convening the Community Coalition. ABC Prevent is funded through PIRE from SAMHSA funds. The aim is to reduce and prevent youth alcohol consumption and opioid misuse.
Public Health Initiative HEC serves as participant of the City of Albuquerques Public Health Initiative. Within this work we are doing public health policy analysis, harm reduction, violence prevention, transit equity, and community stress resiliency trainings. We also are working to convene a Long Term COVID Recovery working group that will look at creating a more equitable, and strong City/County as we move out of this pandemic at some point in the future.
