Helping Hands is part of the CACFP program (Child and Adult Care Food Program), a Federal program that provides healthy meals and snacks to children and adults receiving day care. Each day more than 2.6 million children and 60,000 older adults participate in CACFP programs like Helping Hands. The program provides a vital role in improving the quality of day care and making it more affordable for many low income families. Helping Hands through the CACFP reimburses participating centers and day care homes for serving nutritious meals.

Program areas at Helping Hands

Helping Hands worked with over 185 individual family home daycare providers almost daily through fy 2022. Our providers served children each day, each receiving at least three meals (usually 2 main meals and a snack). That is a total of: 146,779 breakfasts; 245,764 lunches; 216,731 dinners; and 324,759 snacks.
