Illinois Humanities engages the humanties as a tool to stimulate conversations and engagement among diverse publics about the ideas and issues that matter and extends its reach by maing grants to other Illinois organizations.public policy - bringing people across lines of ideology, race, and socioeconomic status together for constructive public policy discussions and to increase the public's awareness of our demographic systems.media and journalism - Illinois Humanities' media and journalism programming aims to build dialogue and collaboration between journalists and the public at all stages of the reporting process, and to foster more responsive, community-ceentered practices in the media sector.art - improving the conditions under which art thrives by supporting all forms of art and combating notions of exclusivity.education - the education division is committed to increasing access to humanities-based education and educational programming for k-12 students, teachers, and adults throughout Illinois.
Grants fund projects throughout the state that bring people together for inquiry and conversation - discussing and learning about the digital Humanities, targeting and engaging new audiences, making public humanties programming more engaging and interactive, and increasing strategic planning and sustainable collaboration. In fiscal year 2022, the grant program awarded $708,871 in community grants.
