Education-this program includes head start and native workforce development program (nwd) the head start program served 215 indian children in the state of Nevada, providing preschool instruction & meals for low income and handicapped children's families. The head start program provides continuous training for staff and parents through the year. Additionally, the program provided staff development training to 64 head start employees. Native workforce development program (nwd) - the primary objectives are to serve employment and training activities to native americans, Alaskan native and hawaiians residing in the state of Nevada. There are two primary program through this program, the comprehensive services program for ages 18 years and older and the supplemental youth program for young adults aged 14 through 21 years of age. The program promotes economic and social development for individuals to compete in the workforce and become self-sufficient. Through these services, activities include job searching, referrals, skill and educational competencies, adult mentoring, supportive services, leadership development, tutoring and study skills, academic, occupational and literacy skills, paid and unpaid work experience placement and internships, job development and outreach to individuals and communities.
Health and welfare - this program includes the following projects and and programs: women, infant, children (wic), child care development program (ccdf), elders meals and caregivers program (aoa), domestic violence prevention program, substance abuse prevention and public health preparedness/emergency management performance. These programs support the nutrition and safety of families both tribal and non-tribal that are eligible within the communities served. Domestic violence prevention project
