Kuskokwim River Inter Tribal Fish Commission's mission aims to rebuild salmon resources and preserve a way of life that is vital for people's nutritional, economical, and cultural needs for the Kuskokwim River Tribes. In order to achieve this, Kritfc coordinates several salmon monitoring and assessment research projects, partnering with other agencies and researchers to implement others. Kritfc coordinates several salmon monitoring and assessment research projects, and partners with other agencies and researchers to implement others. The goal of these projects is to use indigenous knowledge and western scientific methods to better understand salmon on the Kuskokwim, including when and how many Fish return in the summer, how their sizes and ratios of female to male Fish are changing, and how they are affected by climate change and warmer River water.
