Program areas at Laboratory To Combat Human Trafficking

Community based research & action program: lcht's goal in conducting research is To contribute data-driven insights To the broader anti- Trafficking movement and To advance a comprehensive response. The main program activities in 2022 included planning and initiating data collection for Colorado project 2023, publication of two journal articles with a third under review, and convening anti-trafficking partnership leaders around the state To learn more about labor Trafficking efforts on the western slope.
Hotline and resouce directory: this program goal is To increase access To services for individuals experiencing Trafficking and develop community- based agencies across Colorado as they address Human exploitation. We manage the 24/7 statewide Colorado Human Trafficking hotline and text line, and online resource directory. We continued To see an increase in calls generated by the statewide public awareness campaign (thisishumantrafficking.com). In 2022, we responded To the greatest volume of calls in our history: 1,028 calls and texts (top call types: referrals = 289; tips = 282; informational = 111).
Training and education program: lcht's public awareness goals are To deliver anti-trafficking training To targeted professional groups and diverse community audiences across Colorado. The total number of people trained in 2022 was 7,079, reaching 26 Colorado counties. Our primary audiences included health care and child welfare workers, as well as law enforcement. Lcht launched a new project To hire regional specialists, which expanded work conducted under a federal innovate Colorado grant received by Colorado department of Human services and the division of criminal justice that ended in 2021. Lcht was able To expand its reach into three rural regions of Colorado: the 13th judicial district, the greater pueblo area, and the roaring fork valley.
Leadership development program: To prepare Human rights leaders and survivors with the knowledge, skills and professional development opportunities necessary To contribute To the anti-trafficking movement. Lcht leads three 10 week training sessions each year. In 2022, 12 interns were selected, bringing the total number of lcht interns To 201 since the program began in 2005. For the first time, lcht offered scholarship opportunities for participants, as providing payment creates much more accessibility To the program.
