Program areas at LEAP

Energy efficiency programs leap offers walk-through and comprehensive Energy audits and general consulting to residential and non-residential clients. When supported by a utility rebate (such as the dominion home Energy check-up or the charlottesville gas savings Program) these audits may include "direct install" services such as high-efficiency light bulbs, low-flow aerators, and hot water pipe wrap. In the city of charlottesville, commercial audits, commercial outreach, residential audits, and residential outreach are supported by grant funds from the city of charlottesville. Also, in the city of charlottesville, leap offers interest rate buy down programs for residential and commercial investments in efficiency improvements and on- site renewables. The funds for the buy-downs were granted by the city of charlottesville.
Low-income weatherization Program leap is a participating contractor in dominion Virginia power's iaqhip and energyshare programs which provide Energy audits, basic energy-saving equipment, attic insulation, and other services at no cost to qualifying households (including those with low-income, elderly, and disabled residents). These programs serve both renters and owners in both multi- family and single-family dwellings. Leap staff perform the audits and basic installations and contract out the insulation and hvac services. Dominion pays leap directly for some jobs, and we also execute these same programs as a sub-contractor to other agencies. Our work is focused in the greater charlottesville and norther Virginia markets as well as areas in between.
Solarize campaign working with various partners, leap executes these group-purchasing programs to reduce the cost of residential and commercial pv installations in communities from charlottesville to northern Virginia. Local partners primarily assist with promotion. Leap issues an rfp to secure a campaign contractor, conducts educational seminars, promotes via multiple media channels, qualifies clients, and represents the clients to the contractor. In northern Virginia, the northern Virginia regional commission (nvrc) is an integral partner, bringing in new muncipal sponsors and promoting the concept widely. Leap pays nvrc a fee based on completed installations in that region for their help. Cash support has come from muncipal partners (charlottesville and alexandria), the metro-washington council of governments, and the non-profit community power network. The bulk of the revenue for the Program comes from referral fees paid to leap by the campaign contractor when an installation occurs. We also promote our Energy audit services via these campaigns.
Other efforts including training related to odec (old dominion electric cooperative).
