The primary purpose is to conduct and support research and promote education in the diagnosis, detection, and treatment of cancer.CANCER RESEARCH-To continue to pursue the legislative mandate of achieving designation as a cancer center by the National Cancer Institute. This is achieved by: (1) Conducting and supporting research, and (2) promoting education for improvement in the diagnosing, detecting, and treatment of cancer.
CESSATION PROGRAM-To develop and implement a high quality tobacco prevention and cessation program consistent with the best practices in tobacco control.
