Community organizing efforts include overseeing a landbank of 45 properties, completing emergency and comprehensive home repairs for a dozen elderly residents, and implementing a property tax mitigation program for 40 low-income families.

Community Organizing and Housing:Organized neighbors to oversee a community landbank of 45 properties;collaborated to complete emergency and comprehensive home repairs for a dozen elderly residents; implemented a property tax mitigation program for 40 low-income residents; advocated and sustained property valuation reform, advocating Orange County municipal leadership to retain their annual property tax assistance program; collaborated with housing agencies to create six units of affordable housing; coordinated wills clinics and home preservation workshops for 75 elderly households; trained and supervised 300 volunteers for a total of 5186 total hours of engaged service, including supporting weekly food box delivery program that delivered 2900 boxes of food this year.
Learning Across Generations: Expenses:Youth Leadership and Civil Rights Education: Facilitated virtual and in-person civil rights and oral history workshops to over 1000 k-12 students in the district; distributed 400 Family Activity Boxes to elementary aged students in the district and neighborhood; coordinated a team of 15 Community Mentors to participate in virtual and in-person workshops and share their stories first-hand; planned and expanded the First Annual Freedom School- a week long summer program for black and brown middle and high school students to learn civil rights history and social justice practices
Neighborhood Events, Exhibits, and Oral History: Connected 110 elders on a weekly basis through weekly phone calls and community walks; mobilized a Student Leadership Group and a dozen other student leaders to connect student and long-term residents through engagement efforts, including organizing monthly neighborhood block parties; produced and delivered free community newspaper to 850+ households each month; celebrated first anniversary of From The Rock Wall-a community owned oral history commons holding over 400 oral history interviews, thousands of photographs, and space for the community to add and preserve it's history; conducted and processed dozens of oral history interviews to be added to the From the Rock Wall website; organized 3 large scale events, in total bringing together 500 long-time residents, students, and community members- events centered around neighborhood history, advocacy for two new affordable housing developments, and intergenerational relationship building between UNC students and long-time Black residents.
