Program areas at MISN
The NAV (Navigator) Program as a New York State of Health Navigator Agency we enroll more than 200,000 individuals into the NYS of Heath Marketplace annually. Our offices are located in Newburgh in Orange County, Kingston in Ulster County, Liberty in Sullivan. SERVICES ARE ALSO AVAILABLE AT KIRYAS JOEL VILLAGE AND SOCIAL SERVICES. ALL MISN OFFICE LOCATIONS ENABLE STAFF TO BE PRESENT AND ACCESSIBLE IN COMMUNITIES WHERE OUR SERVICES ARE MOST NEEDED AND HAVE THE GREATEST IMPACT ON RESIDENTS.
The CAPP (Comprehensive Adolescent Pregnancy Prevention) program teaches positive youth development and teen pregnancy prevention through school based, after school and community based programming that span 10 15 consecutive weeks and inter-agency collaborations to impact system changes that promote racial and ethnic health equity across all the services and programs we offer. MISN has been offering programming and services in Newburgh since 1990, and youth programming in collaboration with the Newburgh Enlarged City School District since 1995. The agency has also implemented the Teen Outreach Program (TOP), Be Proud Be Responsible, and Making Proud Choices.Focusing on high needs communities like Newburgh, Middletown, Port Jervis, Monticello, Liberty, Fallsburg and Ellenville, where at least half of the students are from racial and ethnic minorities MISN has developed successful strategies engaging youth from ethnic and racial minorities, primarily African American/Black, and Latino/Hispanic cultures, as well as White youth living in poor rural communities that lack recreational and enrichment opportunities
The PICHC (Perinatal Infant Community Health Collaboratives) offer services through the Community Health Worker (CHW) promotes health across the lifespan with a focus on health and wellness to over 1,000 women and their families annually by providing access to health insurance and healthcare, health advocacy, prenatal and inter-conception support services, home visiting, and education services through our Perinatal program. We have a long history of being contracted by local hospitals and Social services departments, WIC (Women Infants and Children) for prenatal and breastfeeding programs.
