Program areas at Mid Valley Christian School
The School utilizes two proven Christian curricula developed to build character and academic excellence. Our preschool curriculum was developed by one of our own teachers who has a masters in early education. The students learn the alphabet and sounds, number recognition, basic science concepts, and socialization skills. The a beka curriculum is used throughout the elementary grades. The curriculum focuses on critical thinking while maintaining a biblical world view. Students focus on spelling, grammar, reading comprehension, mathematics, history, science, and health, in addition to weekly music, art, and sports lessons. Our middle and high School students use the ignitia online curriculum which offers all courses required in the state of Texas for graduation plus over 50 elective courses. The School served 133 students during the year including 45 pk, 79 elementary, and 9 middle and high School students. We have also developed a home schooling option since covid.
Chapel services are held weekly for the students to grow spiritually and develop character. The School director has a separate chapel service for pre-kinder students and elementary students. They consist of singing and a teaching based on bible principles. The services bring instruction in respect, kindness, faithfulness and personal responsibility and hard work. Students are challenged to love god, love others and love themselves.our middle and high School students have devotions each day on topics directly related to their daily life challenges. We offer our students bible courses in the old testament, new testament, and Christian faith and living.
For the students social development, the School offers various special events throughout the year. Some events are geared towards educational experiences outside of the classroom and include field trips and gardening. This year, our students took field trips to the Valley nature center, childrens museum and colonial days historical presentation. The School also tries to include both the students and their families in various activites throughout the year. This year, we had a fall festival, western day, donuts for dad, muffins for mom, a father/daughter dance and a mother/son activity day. In addition, we have programs for christmas, easter and kindergarten and senior graduations. The School has a yearly field day where parents watch as students complete in various track and field events. Other sporting events are organized throughout the year such as a School wide super bowl where students participate in flag football.
