The Mile High Jazz Band Association promotes live jazz performances in and around Carson City, educates the public about jazz, and enriches the cultural life of the community. The association supports the MHJB, an 18-piece big band+vocalist, and its affiliations. The MHJB and Millennium Bugs combo hold about 20 performances per year, including Jazz & Poetry events that are attended by from 50 to 500 each. They also perform with the Carson High School and Carson Middle School Jazz Bands to help them raise funds for school music programs.
