The Museum of Sonoma County, (MSC) located in downtown Santa Rosa, CA presents exhibitions of contemporary art and regional history. The Museum's large collection of historical objects and artwork, primarily focusing on the Northern California region, provided rich content for the 14 in person exhibitions presented during 2022.
The Museum of Sonoma County's collection is comprised of over 18,000 items, including fine art and historical objects. The art collection focuses on artists who have lived, worked, taught, and influenced the artistic culture of Sonoma County and surrounding areas. The historical materials in the collection document the history of California's North Coast Region. Major features of the collection include the works by artists Christo and Jeanne-Claude, 19th Century California landscape paintings, and many other significant art and historical objects.
The 2022 Museum attendance was over 10,000 visitors, inclusive of 465 students and chaperones participating in our free school tour and bus reimbursement Art4Kids grants program. In addition, 452 students and chaperones received discounted tour admissions. 250 free art kits were also distributed to local agencies supporting school children.
