New Horizons in Autism, Inc. Currently maintains 16 group home facilities that serve approximately 54 adults and children with Autism. The global goal of the residential program is to create a setting which allows individuals the opportunity to develop relationships with their housemates and work together to learn to be more independent. The home also provides opportunities for socialization and opportunties to foster healthy relationships with both staff and peers. Each home is developed to ensure an enriching envrionment that meets the unique needs of each individual who resides there. We have found that when people with differing abilities live together, they compliment and learn from each other.
The day habilitation program is designed to teach individuals over the age of 21 functional skills that can be utilzied to obtain and maintain employment. This program currently serves approximately 87 individuals with Autism or related disorders. Program participants are comprised of the residents of the New Horizons group homes, as well as individuals arriving from their family's homes.
