Program areas at Newark Arts Council
Newark Arts provides fiscal sponsorship to programs in alignment with Newark Arts' mission to power the Arts. Pass-through grants amplify the organization's impact on artists and communities. Key programs include the city of Newark's creative catalyst fund, four corners public Arts, yendor Arts and numerous entities.
The Newark Arts festival is Newark's biggest festival of the visual Arts and other art forms. Naf 2019, attended by 15,000, celebrated Newark's unique and diverse contributions to american Arts and culture via 100+ naf exhibits and 50 venues showing work by 500+ artists. In 2020, Newark Arts created a virtual gallery in the image of, and curated in partnership with, the Newark museum of art that showcased 20 local artists. Naf 2020 also featured 150 artists who presented virtually to a global audience for three months.
Arts ed Newark, formerly the Newark Arts education roundtable, was created under the umbrella of Newark Arts as a strategic alliance of 90+ education stakeholders, including public, charter, and private schools; artists; Arts and cultural organizations; youth and community development entities; businesses; funders; and state and local government agencies. Aen's mission is to collaborate to ensure that all children in grades pre-k through 12 in the city of Newark have equitable access to high quality, sequential Arts education opportunities, both in and out of school.
