North Carolina Education Corps works to eliminate barriers to opportunity by providing high-quality whole child and academic support to public school students in North Carolina. The program recruits and recommends highly qualified candidates to serve as high impact tutors in North Carolina public schools, and assists in hiring, placing, and onboarding these tutors. In addition, Ncec identifies programmatic partnership strategies and effective program design to enable them to meet their mission.

Corps member (cm) learning:north Carolina Education Corps (ncec) supported Corps members with best-in-practice professional development training, the latest in data-informed and research-based tutoring methodologies, and ongoing coaching and progress monitoring support to enhance the impact of community members in schools and to improve student growth.
Implement:ncec provided school partners with high-impact tutoring program guidance and implementation support in alignment with national best practices, state standards, school priorities, scheduling, tutor management, progress monitoring, and program evaluation needs. This included supporting schools to make sure Corps members provided targeted tutoring interventions to low-performing students in person, at school, three times per week, 30 minutes per session, in groups of 1-4 students per tutor, throughout the '22-'23 school year.
Recruit:in '22-'23 ncec recruited 549 Corps members who were hired and placed by 29 public school units to provide high-impact reading tutoring to 7,931 k-5 students performing below grade-level reading proficiency in approximately 200 North Carolina elementary schools, including 190 title 1 schools.
