Program areas at North Dakota 4-H Foundation
Program expenses:The ND 4-H Foundation funds many 4-H programs that educate youth, support competitions, reward high achieving youth, train volunteers. Examples of programs include shooting sports, state ambasadors, leadership experiences and more. Competition supported by the foundation include communication arts, livestock judging, hippology, quiz bowl and others. The Foundation provides funding for youth travel to National 4-H Congress National 4-H Conference, national competitions and state Extension Youth Conference.
Scholarships: The Foundation manages endowments and annual donations that are presented to current and former 4-H members of their education expenses. In 2022, 10 ND 4-H members were awarded $5,550 in scholarships. Some of the scholarships are funded by endowments and others are presented with annual donations.
ND 4-H Camp: The foundation owns and manages the ND 4-H Camp near Washburn, ND. This includes overseeing the facilities which icludes an education center, dining hall, multipurpose building and three sleeping cabins. Annual camps hosted by ND 4-H include farm safety, livestock, wish I had a horse, adventure, fish, explorer, Clover, chef cook-off, STEM, trades and forensic science. The location also host youth camps from other organizations focus on military youth, outdoor skills, and others. These camps not only help youth have fun and meet new friends, but also learn about important topics, and develop critical life skills such as resilience and independence. The camp is also rented out for family reunions, wedding receptions, corporate retreats and similar events.
