At Parkview health system, Inc. we maintain foundations for each of our hospitals. These nonprofit organizations provide philanthropic support for our mission of providing quality health services to all who entrust their care to Parkview. We also strive to improve the health of the communities that we serve.the Parkview Foundation, Inc. Builds relationships that foster gift giving for the benefit of our patients and their family members, caregivers, in the form of hospital programs, services, and equipment. These relationships are built with Parkview hospital, Inc. Co-workers, physicians, vendors, patient families, and the community at large. The(see schedule o for continuation)parkview Foundation, Inc. is composed of a collection of corporate, Foundation, and individual donors who see Parkview hospital, Inc. as an agent for saving and changing lives. Moreover, they view Parkview Foundation, Inc. as a vehicle for transforming lives, providing hope, and ultimately improving the health and wellbeing of our community.each gift received by Parkview Foundation, Inc. is either immediately utilized, or set aside, for the benefit of Parkview hospital, Inc. all gifts of any size, whether from employees, individuals, or outside organizations, are greatly appreciated.in 2022, an array of needs from both Parkview regional medical center and Parkview randallia were presented to the Parkview Foundation. The following are examples of Parkview Foundation, Inc. providing funding to Parkview hospital, Inc. for various hospital programs, services, equipment, and improvements:co-worker emergency fund:-the co-worker emergency fund assisted co-workers facing emergencies such as a health emergency, domestic violence or other life crisis. This fund provided payments for rent, utilities and addressed food insecurity by providing kroger gift cards.parkview cancer institute:-the Parkview cancer institute was able to provide basic needs of low-income cancer patients. Some examples include wigs/hats, gas cards, food bank vouchers and nutritional drinks. Women's & children's unit:-in 2022, the women's and children's unit was able to provide transportation of children and their parent to specialists for coordinated care. This was available for low-income families, or families that had no transportation available. The women's and children's unit was also able to provide a mental health navigator to serve families with complex needs. The women's and children's unit was able to provide the family birthing center with birthing tubs for patient use. Parkview team member support:-donors created a new fund to support frontline co-workers during the challenges of the covid pandemic. These funds were used to provide meals, snacks, team gear and support for frontline co-workers during high covid patient census periods. The covid fund continued its support of team members throughout 2022. Some examples include a respite recliner, mindful self compassion sessions and a holistic nursing cart.coworker education & training: - the Foundation continued its commitment to help maintain the highest standards of training and certification of hospital co-workers in 2022. Co-workers were able to attend the global leadership summit, that is held yearly in august. There were also nursing and medical education scholarships available for co-workers. Parkview flight services:-parkview flight services were provided with advanced airway trainers to improve patient care. The advanced airway trainers are life-like mannequins that stimulate the airway to assist in the life saving efforts of flight crew medics. Equipment:-in 2022, the Foundation was able to provide equipment, including a 3d scanner for the forever in your heart bereavement program and an ultrasonic scanner for the sim lab at the mirro center for research and innovation. The bereavement program will give families facing a loss an infant loss memento of their child, such as a hand or foot image imprinted in durable plastic that will last a lifetime. Francine's friends mobile mammography:-francine's friends mobile mammography was able to provide screening mammograms and diagnostic imaging for uninsured or underinsured women. In 2022, eighteen breast cancer diagnoses were made as a result of these life saving scans. Special touch fund:-the special touch fund, which focuses on patient assistance, was able to provide car seats to families who did not have one in order to be discharged from the hospital. It also provided hotel stays for family members so they could be close to their loved one while they were patients at Parkview regional medical center or Parkview randailia hospital. The medication assistance program provided patients with help paying for prescriptions necessary for discharge. Chaplaincy fund:-in 2022, the chaplaincy fund was able to provide bereavement and grief support supplies to family members after a loved one has passed. Parkview hospice program: - each year, ongoing financial support is provided to Parkview home health and hospice in the form of monthly support for end-of-life care programming. Compassionate and dignified care through home health and hospice is available to everyone, regardless of age, medical condition, or ability to pay. Funds provided by donors have been used for bereavement care, support groups, massage and music therapy and pill boxes. Parkview heart institute:-the Parkview heart institute was able to provide support for the her heart program to reduce risks of heart disease. This program included support group meetings at the prmc campus, free lab work, opportunities for physical activity and access to health experts including dieticians, physicians, and behavioral therapists.-the Parkview heart institute was also able to provide therapy dog training. Rosc-o is a full-time therapy dog and focus of an ongoing research project at Parkview heart institute. Rosc-o, which stands for return of spontaneous circulation, was named by the phi team. While his primary mission is to lift the staff's spirits, he also enjoys visiting patients, guests, and rounding physicians. 34.5 full-time employees and 6,760 patients will receive emotional support from the implementation of the therapy dog program. The use of the therapy dog will also be incorporated into patient care plans to help better meet their needs during hospitalization. Pharmacy:-in 2022, the pharmacy fund was able to provide education & training for pharmacists and techs. Two Parkview co-workers from the pharmacy department were able to attend a pharmacy training conference through the american society of health-system pharmacists in phoenix. The co-workers were able to attend sessions on ambulatory pharmacy clinical services that have positively impacted patient care. Research & innovation:-the research and innovation teams were able to conduct studies for the bridge mental health program and covid long haulers through the mirro center for research and innovation. The "bridge" mental health program, building resources to inform families using digital guidance & education project, focused on developing a web based resource for patients and their families coping with mental illness, supporting their transition from adolescence to young adult care. The second project, covid long haulers research, compiled dataset information needed for Parkview to become a post covid data registry. Outcomes from the study will help scientists obtain a national science institute grant to further the research.
