Program areas at Pathfinder International

Sub-saharan africa: Pathfinder International improves the quality of and access to sexual and reproductive health care and other essential health services. We do this through a locally led approach, working in partnership with the government and local partners to strengthen public health systems, and transforming norms and customs that prevent people from being healthy and living the lives they choose. In sub-saharan africa, our integrated programs strengthen the delivery of contraception, maternal and child health care, comprehensive abortion care, and prevent and treat hiv and aids, gender-based violence, and cervical cancer, while contributing to gender equity, climate resilience, and women's economic empowerment. Pathfinder works in countries such as burkina faso, burundi, cote d'ivoire, democratic republic of congo, ethiopia, kenya, mozambique, niger, nigeria, tanzania, and uganda, among others. Many of our programs in africa specifically address the sexual and reproductive health needs of adolescents and youth and those living in fragile setting affected by conflict, climate change, and other crises. All of our programs are driven by the knowledge and perspectives of the communities we serve. We work closely with local governmental and ngo partners to develop, plan, implement, and monitor quality interventions.
South america: in peru, Pathfinder improved the health and survival of mothers and newborns through improved maternal health care and offering contraception during postpartum and post-abortion care in underserved areas of the country. Pathfinder also supported comprehensive hiv and aids prevention and treatment for key populations.
South asia/middle east/north africa: in bangladesh, egypt, india, jordan, and pakistan, our programs improve the quality of and access to sexual and reproductive health care and other essential health services. We do this through a locally led approach, working in partnership with the government and local partners to strengthen public health systems, and transforming norms and customs that prevent people from being healthy and living the lives they choose. In these regions, our integrated programs strengthen the delivery of contraception, maternal and child health care, and prevent and treat gender-based violence, while contributing to gender equity, climate resilience, and women's economic empowerment. In bangladesh, we work closely with the government to strengthen sexual and reproductive health care nationally. In india, we continue to address the sexual and reproductive health needs of vulnerable adolescents and youth, particularly through innovative digital health approaches. In pakistan, we are bringing contraceptive access to women, while helping them to thrive through economic opportunities, specifically in communities heavily impacted by climate disasters. In egypt, we are strengthening family planning services nationally in close partnership with the government while working across the private sector to increase the participation of women in the workforce. All of our programs are driven by the knowledge and perspectives of the communities we serve. We work closely with local governmental and ngo partners to develop, plan, implement, and monitor quality interventions.
