Program areas at Peopleforbikes Foundation
Keeping bicycles front and center. Peopleforbikes' marketing and communications programs inspire people to ride and challenge them to ride more. Through extensive educational resources and bicycle advocacy communications, the marketing and communications department uses all media channels to spread our vision for more and better biking, communicate our programs and key initiatives, and reduce barriers to adoption.
Better bike share partnership. Funded by the jpb Foundation to build equitable and replicable shared micromobility systems, the goal of the better bike share partnership is to increase access to and use of these systems in low-income and bipoc communities. Partners include the city of philadelphia, the national association of city transportation officials (nacto), and the Peopleforbikes Foundation. Initially funded in 2014 for a three-year period, the jpb Foundation continued support of the program with a second three-year term starting in 2020 through june 30, 2023.
Local infrastructure. The Peopleforbikes Foundation helps cities measure, plan, build, fund, and promote great places to ride through local infrastructure programs and key initiatives. These programs develop strong community partnerships, accelerate progress, and create best practices and model templates for city leaders, land managers, local advocates, and the bike industry. We work to ensure bikes are prioritized as a real solution to improve americans' health, connect communities, boost local and state economies, strengthen our nation, and protect the planet. We grow bicycle ridership in america through various outreach campaigns to attract youth and retain a diverse base of new and infrequent riders. Our work in living lab communities builds equitable and replicable shared micromobility systems in low-income and bipoc communities.
