Program areas at Project Transformation North Texas
Afterschool Program Elementary Students Grades 1 - 5 - During our 2021-22 AfterSchool Program 100 of our 100 program participants maintained or improved their literacy skills over the course of the program September to May for those who attended regularly. After-school was held at 3 sites Chapel Hill UMC, Christ Foundry and Elmwood UMC. We continued to see students recovering from learning loss due to COVID. We are proud to report, however, that no students regressed in reading as opposed to 30 of their peers while enrolled in our program. 2022 Summer Program - Over 440 students enrolled in our Summer Program in 2022, which was held at 8 sites in Dallas, Garland, Irving and Farmers Branch. The elementary students read for 40 minutes, one-to-one, with a volunteer each day to improve fluency, vocabulary, and text comprehension as well as to increase their confidence in reading. We were able to accomplish our Reading Program through the support of community volunteers.
